Design Based Implementation Research

Institute for Learning at the University of Pittsburgh

The Institute for Learning (IFL) is an organization with a long history of focus on school reform. IFL researchers and professional developers work with school districts to provide supports for districtwide instructional improvement.

IFL work focuses on developing organizational supports for improving teaching and learning. IFL has worked to design supports for “boundary crossers” who communicate new information across contexts. As IFL has evolved over time, they have moved towards an approach that reflects DBIR principles.

IFL receives funding from a variety of sources, including partner school districts who contract with IFL to provide specific services to them.
